First Semi Precious Necklace on EJART
Nothing thrills me so much as taking good photos. As soon as I finished this necklace, I photo graphed it with the best camera I could get my fingers on.
One of my favorite designs of necklace is the multistrand necklace. If you visit my Etsy Shop you will notice that I have quite a few of them!

Featured Jewelry designer - Paula Huckabay

- 1.What first inspired you to design handmade beaded jewelry, Paula? How did
youlearn to make jewelry?
As a person who has always loved jewelry I was thrilled when the trend of handcrafted jewelry began to emerge again about 12 years ago. I had made tons of seed bead earrings back in the 80’s but the newer beads and components being offered were very exciting. It all started with making my own jewelry, after all, what is better than perfectly accessorizing your own wardrobe with custom made jewelry! I started as many designers have, with simple earrings and stringing techniques and I have strived to learn as many new techniques as possible over the last few years.
- 2. Are there any historical currents in the history of art that have influenced your work?

I have always loved jewelry, and would often have a mental picture of what kind of earrings or ring I wanted. Then I would try to find them in a store and couldn’t! Once my three children were a little older and not interested in hanging out with Mom, I finally had time for a hobby. Designing jewelry just seemed to be the obvious choice. So about 18 months ago I set out to teach myself how to make my own jewelry. It has been a wonderful experience! I love that now I can make EXACTLY what I want!
just a hobby?
